New Appointment Options For Salvadorans At The Los Angeles Consulate

In the wake of the pandemic, the Salvadoran consulate in Los Angeles has adapted its services to better assist its citizens. New appointment options have been introduced to ensure that all Salvadorans can access essential services safely and efficiently. This is particularly crucial as many people rely on these services for vital documentation, including passports.

The consulate officials emphasize the importance of scheduling appointments as a means to manage the flow of visitors and maintain social distancing. Alejandro Letona, the Consul General, has highlighted the various ways in which Salvadorans can now secure their appointments, ensuring that they receive timely assistance.

To facilitate this process, the consulate has extended its operational hours and introduced a virtual consulate option, which allows users to make appointments online. This shift not only improves accessibility but also aligns with ongoing health guidelines aimed at reducing the spread of COVID-19.

After two years of disruption, the consulate is reintroducing mobile services. They previously visited Oxnard and will be heading to Mendota in Fresno County on August 8, providing same-day passport processing.

For many, this new system means they won't have to wait long for essential documents. Instead, they can receive their passports on-site in about 45 minutes, thanks to the mobile team's comprehensive equipment and materials.

Historically, mobile consulates only collected information and processed documents via mail, which could take much longer. However, the new approach emphasizes efficiency and immediate access to services, catering to the needs of Salvadorans across California.
